17 Best Bird Toys For Green Cheek & Sun Conures In 2023

1. EBaokuup 2 Pack Of Wooden Rattan Foraging Balls – #1 Best Toy Overall

My cockatiel playing with this toy

Information About This Toy:

Materials used: Wood, rattan, coloured paper, and metal (bell)

Size: 4.5 Inches high

Brand: EBaokuup

Pros:

  • Encourages shredding – When I had these toys, my cockatiel spent many hours of the day destroying the wood. He first tore apart all the crinkle paper and then worked on the wooden frame. He loved to destroy it, and your conure will love it just as much!
  • Can easily stash treats within – You can easily hide treats throughout the crinkle paper to encourage foraging. Small seeds and sunflower seeds fit nicely within the ball and are favoured treats for many conures.
  • 2 For the price of 1 – Overall a great price for 2 foraging and shredding balls. The price is just 14$ for two of these wooden balls, which is good considering that’s the price for many single toys.
  • Durable – When I had this pack, I only used one at a time, and the first one lasted weeks before I needed to bring out the second one. Just one of these toys has a pretty long lifespan, so the whole pack will entertain your conures for a while.

Cons:

  • Includes metal bell – These were almost the perfect toys, except they include metal bells below the body. Remove these as they could pose a hazard.

2. EBaokuup 5 Pack Of Shredding Toys

best toys for conures

Information About This Toy:

Materials used: Coloured paper, rattan, loofah, metal (bell)

Size: All 5 toys are between 5.5″ and 8″ in height

Brand: EBaokuup

Pros:

  • Ultimate paper shredder pack – All 5 of the toys featured in this bundle are ideal for paper shredding. If your conure loves to rip apart paper, definitely buy them this ultimate paper shredder pack!
  • Great value for money – 5 good toys for just 17 dollars is a pretty good deal in my opinion. If you need a whole bunch of toys but you’re on a budget, this is a good option for you!
  • Encourages foraging – Besides being an epic paper shredder, you can also sprinkle millet or seeds throughout the paper to encourage foraging. It’s a great overall toy for both green cheek and sun conures.

Cons:

  • Includes metal bells – A metal bell is featured on 4 out of 5 of these toys. It’s best to remove these to ensure your conure’s safety.

3. SunGrow Medium Parrot Chewing Blocks Toy

bird toys for conures

Information About This Toy:

Materials used: Wood blocks, rope.

Size: 16 Inches high

Brand: Sungrow

Pros:

  • Highly durable – Based on the image, I’m sure you can imagine how durable this toy is for conures. The structure of all those wooden blocks makes the toy very tough and long-lasting. After all, it was made for larger birds, so it must be built tough.
  • 100% Natural materials – This toy is made from natural wood and rope materials.
  • Ideal shredding toy – The wooden blocks are tough for conures, but still breakable, making it the perfect shredding toy. It offers a good balance of being challenging and not being too tough to break. Perfect for keeping beaks in good shape!
  • Great price – Considering how durable and fun it is for conures to chew, 13$ is a pretty good price.

Cons:

  • Rope can fray – Although the rope is tightly knotted, it can still fray if your conure relentlessly targets it. Frayed rope fibres can end up in your bird’s system, which is dangerous. Remove the toy if the rope becomes damaged.
  • A little big for conures – Measuring a whopping 16 inches, this toy is quite large compared to a conure. It’s a bit big, but the toy is still suitable for conures who aren’t scared of large objects.

4. EBaokuup 3 Pack Of Chewing & Foraging Conure Toys

bird toys for conures

Information About This Toy:

Materials used: Crinkle paper, wood, rattan, loofah, metal (bells)

Size: All 3 toys measure 9.05 Inches in length

Brand: EBaokuup

Pros:

  • Ultimate foraging toy bundle – All 3 toys included in this bundle are ideal for treat stashing and forage. There are many great foraging toys on this list, but this is definitely the best foraging toy bundle for conures.
  • Great budget option – This foraging toy bundle is a great option for those with a small toy budget. You get 3 good toys for just 14$, which is not bad at all.
  • Easy to install – A quick link connector is included on all 3 toys, making it easy to install on the cage.

Cons:

  • Bells are not like the product image – In the product image above, you can see the bells below all 3 toys. However, the bells you’ll receive aren’t solid, they have shapes in them that can trap your bird’s nails. Negative points for false advertising, but the bells can easily be removed, so I wouldn’t worry about this.

5. Super Bird Creations Rainbow Bridge Conure Toys

best toys for conures

Information About This Toy:

Materials used: Wood blocks, hardwood beads, plastic chains

Size: 18 Inches in length

Brand: Super Bird Creations

Pros:

  • Unique climbing toy – You can probably tell from the image that this toy is best used as a climbing bridge. Not only can your conure destroy the wooden blocks, but they can climb across the toy to reach the blocks they want to chew! It’s certainly a unique toy.
  • Ideal size for conures – The rainbow blocky bridge is the perfect length and diameter for conures to walk across. Other small birds, like budgies and cockatiels, can also walk across this bridge, in case you have any of those birds.
  • Can be used vertically or horizontally – Don’t want to use this toy as a bridge? That’s fine, you can easily hang this toy vertically and let your conures wreak havoc on all the wooden blocks that they would normally walk along. Useful for all play styles!

Cons:

  • No cons found? – Huh, that’s weird. I couldn’t find a single issue with this toy that would affect your bird. It’s a great shredder, built tough, bird-safe, works as a bridge, and has a reasonable price tag. Would highly recommend it!

6. Super Bird Creations Seagrass Wafer

Bird toys for conures

Information About This Toy:

Materials used: Seagrass, pine wood, metal (bell).

Size: 9 Inches high

Brand: Super Bird Creations

Pros:

  • Natural chewing materials – Made primarily of pine wood blocks and seagrass slats, this is a natural shredding toy for your conure. The only unnatural parts are the metal bell and quick link connector.
  • Compact size – The seagrass wafer toy is small, compact, and about the same size as your conures. There’s less chance of your bird getting scared of this toy if they’re normally frightened of large objects.
  • Great budget price – This toy is sold for just 9$ on chewy, which I believe is a good price considering its size and decent durability. It’s natural, small, and a great option for those on a tight budget.

Cons:

  • Includes metal bell – Below the seagrass and wooden blocks features a metal bell. To ensure safety, it’s best to remove it.
  • Not very durable – Since it’s a very small and thin toy, it won’t last very long, especially with a destructive conure. A dedicated conure could destroy this whole thing within a day, but they’ll certainly have fun with it!

7. Super Bird Creations Pinwheel Conure Toy

best bird toys for conures

Information About This Toy:

Materials used: Palm leaves, crinkle paper, bamboo finger traps, plastic chain.

Size: 8 Inches high

Brand: Super Bird Creations

Pros:

  • Crunchy palm leaf centre – The star-shaped panels on the front and back of this toy are made from palm leaves, which is a crunchy shredding material used on many popular bird toys.
  • Finger traps are great for foraging – The coloured bamboo finger traps that you can see poking out from behind the palm leaf star are ideal for treat stashing. You can hide some small seeds or millet within the long tubes and then watch your conure destroy them to reach the food you stashed inside!
  • Inexpensive toy– There’s a large range of materials in this toy that provides both foraging and shredding outlets. All this value for just 10$ is a bargain in my eyes!
  • Small & compact – The pinwheel toy is small and compact, making it ideal for conures, budgies, cockatiels, and other small parrots. Tiny toys are great for tiny beaks!

Cons:

  • Not very sturdy – Being inexpensive and small, you shouldn’t expect this toy to last very long with your conures.

8. Planet Pleasures Pineapple Foraging Toy

Best toys for sun conure

Information About This Toy:

Materials used: Palm leaves, sisal, bamboo, and abaca fibre.

Size: Small = 5″ high | Medium = 7″ high | (recommended) Large = 9″ high | X-Large = 11″ high

Brand: Planet Pleasures

Pros:

  • Highest-rated toy – On both the Chewy and Amazon stores, the pineapple foraging toy by planet pleasures is one of the highest-rated bird toys. Everybody loves it! With more 5-star ratings than most other toys, this is clearly one of the best toys available for conures and birds of all sizes!
  • Easy to stash treats in – You see those small spikes emerging from the body? They can be used to stash treats within the folds of those spikes, which makes for great foraging opportunities.
  • Perfect for shredding – Both the outer palm leaf body and the internal bamboo skeleton are perfect targets for your conure’s destructive beak. After they destroy the outside of the toy, they can have fun ripping apart the bamboo skeleton on the inside.
  • Available in 4 sizes – Small, medium, large, and extra large are the available sizes for the pineapple foraging toy, making it available for beaks of ALL sizes!

Cons:

  • No quick link connector – Despite being one of the best bird toys available, it does not include a quick link connector for easy cage installation. You’ll need to use a connector from another toy that you may have purchased or buy your own stainless steel quick links.

9. Planet Pleasures Spiked Piñata

Best toys for conure birds

Information About This Toy:

Materials used: Palm leaves, abaca fibre, and plant material.

Size: Small = 9″ tall | Medium = 11″ tall (recommended for conures) | Large = 16″ tall | X-large = 22″ tall

Brand: Planet Pleasures

Pros:

  • Palm leaf material for shredding – The main body of the toy and the streamers hanging below are made from palm leaves, which provide a nice crunchy texture for your conures to chew.
  • Highly durable – Even after 2 months of moderate use, the spiked pinata I bought for my cockatiel is still in decent condition. This is a very tough and sturdy toy, and it’s a great option for birds who love to destroy!
  • Very colourful – The bright colour variety on the pinata is sure to grab the attention of even the most ignorant birds. If your bird is known for a lack of interest in new things, this vibrant toy will definitely be the exception.
  • 100% Natural – Made from palm leaves and other plant materials, this toy is 100% bird-safe and natural. Not to mention that it’s eco-friendly as it’s made from recycled materials.

Cons:

  • No quick link connector – Having no quick link connector is an annoying trend with planet pleasures toys, but the pros of this toy definitely outweigh this con.

10. Planet Pleasures Octopus Piñata Bird Toy – #3 Best Shredding Toy

Shredding and chew toys for conures

Information About This Toy:

Materials used: Palm leaves, abaca fibre, recycled materials.

Size: Small = 9″ tall | Medium = 12″ tall | Large = 15″ tall

Brand: Planet Pleasures

Pros:

  • Fun leaf streamers – The palm leaf streamers that hang from the bottom make up a majority of the toy’s overall length. They look like little octo legs and they’ll be super fun for your conures to chew and pull down.
  • Strong & durable – The main body of the toy is hand woven tightly to help it withstand the might of your conure’s beak. The length of the octo-legs also helps to extend the lifespan of this toy. It’ll provide days and possibly weeks of chewing fun!
  • Available in 3 sizes – Small, medium, and large are the 3 sizes available for the octopus pinata toy. I highly recommend the medium or large size for conures as the small option is better suited to budgies, parrotlets, and smaller parrots.

Cons:

  • No quick link connector (again) – I hate to keep mentioning this, but having no connector on planet pleasures bird toys is a bit inconvenient. However, don’t let it stop you from getting this toy as it’s an epic shredder for conures!

11. Super Bird Creations Crinkle Crinkle Little Star – #2 Best Budget Toy For Conures

best bird toys for conures

Information About This Toy:

Materials used: Vine, crinkle paper, metal (bell)

Size: 6.5 Inches high

Brand: Super Bird Creations

Pros:

  • Chewable vine material – The centre ball and the star-shaped objects are made from vine, a natural material that is excellent for parrots to chew on. When your conures get this toy, they’ll likely spend most of their time destroying the vine parts!
  • Coloured crinkle paper – Is your conure a paper shredder? If so, there is plenty of coloured crinkle paper throughout the crinkle little star toy. Not only is it great for tearing apart, but you can sprinkle treats within the paper to encourage foraging.
  • Cheapest toy on this list! – Being sold for just 6$, the crinkle little star toy is easily the most inexpensive conure toy on this list. Perfect for bird owners on a low budget.

Cons:

  • Metal bell – Below the centre ball features a small metal bell. It’s best to remove this to ensure your bird’s safety.
  • Not very durable – The crinkle little star is a tiny toy, which ultimately means it won’t last long in your conure’s cage. If your conure is dedicated enough, they could destroy it within an hour.

12. Super Bird Creations Foraging Basket

bird toys for conures

Information About This Toy:

Materials used: Plastic, wood, cardboard, paper, bamboo, natural vine.

Size: 10 Inches high

Brand: Super Bird Creations

Pros:

  • Lots of material variety – There are plenty. of materials inside the basket (including the basket itself) that will keep your conures entertained! A majority of those materials are ideal for shredding, such as bamboo finger traps, vine objects, and wooden sticks.
  • Encourages both chewing & foraging – Not only is everything in this basket great for shredding, but you can easily stash treats in the various parts of the basket to encourage some foraging fun!
  • You can add your own items – Since it’s just a basket, you can add your own bird-safe materials to it, such as more paper, bamboo cutlery, and anything else you can think of. This is especially useful when your bird destroys everything in the basket.

Cons:

  • Everything is loose – It might look like all those items are secure in the basket, but in reality, they’re just placed in the basket and can easily fall out. It’s actually more likely to get thrown out by your conure. Many buyers thought that everything was attached to the basket and was disappointed when their bird threw everything out with ease.

13. Bonka Bird Toys Helix Conure Toy

Best foraging toys for conure birds

Information About This Toy:

Materials used: Vine, bamboo finger traps, cardboard, and paper.

Size: 11 Inches high

Brand: Bonka Bird Toys

Pros:

  • Natural vine ladder – The central ladder that holds everything together is made from natural vine, which is 100% bird-safe and fun to shred. You can also stash treats within the tight gaps of the vine ladder.
  • Bamboo finger traps – Surrounding the central vine ladder are multi-coloured bamboo finger traps that are not only satisfying to chew, but can hide away millet and seeds. The colours also make the toy quite enticing to colour-loving birds.
  • Good price – 9$ for a fun toy that encourages both foraging and chewing is a good deal in my eyes. I would definitely get more than 1 for that price!

Cons:

  • Not very durable – If I’m being honest, this con was a bit of a nitpick as I couldn’t find much wrong with this toy. It has decent durability, but a dedicated conure could wreck the whole thing in less than 2 days.

14. 6 Pack Of Mini Chewing Sneakers, Bonka Bird Toys

bird toys for conures

Information About This Toy:

Materials used: Canva, rubber, shoe laces.

Size: Each shoe measures 3″ long

Brand: Bonka Bird Toys

Pros:

  • Can be hung by the laces – Instead of using a quick link connector to attach these mini sneakers to the cage, you can use the shoelaces. Simply tie the shoelace to one of the horizontal bars on your conures cage and it’s all ready for destruction! Who needs quick links when you have shoe laces?
  • Good foot toy – When I say foot toy, I don’t mean your bird can wear them as shoes, I mean conures can lift the mini shoes with their feet and hold them while destroying them. They’re light enough for conures to lift, but might be a bit heavy for budgies.
  • Great for treat hiding – The inside of the shoe can be used to stash treats for your conures to forage for. You can make it very challenging by adding the treats all the way near the front of the shoe so they must stick their beaks in much further to reach them. This will also encourage them to destroy the shoes to reach the treats.
  • 6 Pack – You get 6 mini sneakers for less than 10$, which I believe to be a pretty good deal. It would have been a bit disappointing if you only got a single pair for the same price, in which case it wouldn’t be worth it.

Cons:

  • Laces can get frayed – Although the laces are made from bird-safe materials, they can become a hazard if they get frayed. Loose rope fibres can be dangerous for birds, so remove the shoes if the laces become damaged.

15. Wesco Mini Bird Kabob

bird toys for green cheek conures
My cockatiel LOVED his mini wesco bird kabob!

Information About This Toy:

Materials used: Pithy wood

Size: 11 Inches high

Brand: Wesco

Pros:

  • Pithy wood for shredding – The main structure of the bird kabob is made from soft textured pithy wood, which is the perfect shredding material for small birds, such as cockatiels, budgies, and especially conures.
  • Very durable – I bought this toy for my cockatiel a while ago and it lasted weeks until it got completely wrecked. There are about 8 wood blocks on the mini bird kabob and each block can probably last a couple of days. If your conure is known for destroying toys too quickly, this one will certainly keep them entertained for much longer!

Cons:

  • Rope can easily fray – The rope that holds all the wood block pieces together can easily fray. It’s very loose, which can be dangerous if your conure targets the rope more than the wood. If your bird begins chewing the fibrous rope, it’s best to remove the toy.
  • No quick link connector – Instead of a convenient quick link for easy cage installation, you only get a rope loop. It was very difficult to attach it anywhere on the cage and anything I tried to do with the rope just made it fray quicker.

16. Super Bird Creations 24 Pack Of Fatty Bagels

conure bird toys for conures

Information About This Toy:

Materials used: Paper & cardboard

Size: 1.7 Inches in diameter (from one end of a bagel to the other)

Brand: Super Bird Creations

Pros:

  • Paper & cardboard shredder – Each bagel is made from compressed cardboard and paper. Compressing the cardboard and paper has made the bagels tight, strong, and durable, even for the most destructive beaks. Your conures will have a blast tearing through all that material!
  • Many placement options – Despite not being able to attach these bagels to the cage like a typical toy, there are plenty of other placement options. You could place it on the floor of the cage or on the roof, or one buyer even looped it over their bird’s favourite perch and he was shredding it while standing on the perch it was looped over.
  • 24 Pack – For just $9.50, you get a whopping 24 highly durable bagel rings. That is GREAT value for money if you ask me! The pack will definitely last a while with your flock, more than many other toys.

Cons:

  • Can’t be attached to the cage – As mentioned, these bagels have no quick link connectors because they were originally meant to be replacement parts for another toy that does attach to the cage. This is fine however as you can still find plenty of other ways to present them to your conures.

17. 3 Pack (B) Of Mini Training Toys For Small Birds

conure toys for training

Information About This Toy:

Materials used: Wood, plastic, and bird-safe materials

Size: Skateboard = 5.3 Inches long | Bowling ally = 11.7 Inches long | Training ring tower = 6.30 Inches high

Brand: Wontee

Pros:

  • Ideal training kit for conures – The toy kit is not meant for independent play, but instead for training birds to perform tricks with the kit. Many owners have successfully taught their birds to ride the skateboard, loop the rings on the tower, and push the bowling ball down the alley. Ideal for small parrots, including conures!
  • Bowling alley – Used to teach your conure how to push the bowling ball down the bowling alley and get a strike! The little piece that holds the bowling ball is pegged into the alley, so when they push the ball, the ball holder stays put.
  • Skateboard – Used to teach your bird to ride the skateboard and do a kickflip! (not really) Many owners have taught their small birds to hop on the skateboard and ride down a small ramp to get a treat. Super fun!
  • Training rings & tower – One of the most fun tricks you can teach your conure with this bundle is how to loop the coloured rings over the tower.

Cons:

  • Doesn’t encourage natural behaviours – This toy kit does not encourage natural behaviours, such as foraging or shredding. Instead, they encourage the performance of specific tricks!
  • Can’t be used independently – Unlike typical bird toys, this bundle cannot be used independently. Instead, you need to use them with your bird, like you’re playing with them together! After all, your conure can’t train itself.
